Lay a dust sheet or cardboard on the floor to prevent dust, if possible
Use good heavy boxes as flimsy boxes will collapse
Fill boxes completely as partly filled ones will bulge or collapse
Dishes etc need wrapping in bubble wrap whenever possible
Anything fragile needs well wrapping
Heavy items should be packed into smaller boxes for ease of carrying
Tools and garden equipment should be cleaned and emptied of fuel and oil
Mattresses should be stored upright to save room
Heavy bulky items should be packed in first as they can then be stacked on
If storing sofas, pack soft furnishings into bags (plastic or otherwise) and stack on sofas, as boxes etc will damage and dig in, hence leaving marks
Stack chairs seat to seat to save room and prevent damage
Fridges, freezers and washing machines should be fully dried after cleaning and stored with doors left slightly open
Liquids must be sealed tightly and stored upright to prevent condensation and spillage
Keep documents and items i.e clothes etc that may be needed, near the door
